Category - alpha-Ketoisocaproic acid [Ketoisocaproate]

alpha-Ketoisocaproic acid [or Ketoisocaproate, ketoleucine, KIC] is an intermediate [the keto acid] in the metabolism of leucine [amino acid]. Ketoleucine has been previously shown to enhance high-intensity exercise performance in combination with glycine and L-arginine. However, according to recent studies ketoleucine does not have beneficial effects for high-intensity exercise by itself. In theory, alpha-Ketoisocaproic acid supplementation may enhance exercise performance through a variety of mechanisms, however, that was not proven in practice.
