Beta-alanine is a non-essential amino acid that is produced naturally in the body. Beta-alanine has ergogenic potential based on its relationship with carnosine. There are studies which show no performance benefits. Sensation of tickling seems to be the only side effect from oral beta-alanine ingestion. Standard doses have not been established.
